You have comp labs that aren't marked - so they aren't really that compulsory to go to, unless you're really eager to learn MATLAB. I didn't have an exam during exam season, just an online eTest that was held on the last week of semester before study week. From what I remember though there are two other in person tests - one for statistics and another for linear algebra - throughout semester. First 4-5 weeks are statistics, and weeks after that you learn linear algebra. If you've done ATAR Methods you should be fine. The math isn't that insane, and you use matrices a lot in your future years (if you're doing engineering).
There were a couple of slightly more abstract ideas to wrap your head around in this unit if you haven't done any statistical math work before, but I think that of all the math units I've done, this one was the most manageable. So long as you do plenty of practice questions, the final exam won't cook you that badly :)
Which units require MATH1019?
MATH1019 is a prerequisite for 25 units.
