PRRE1003: Resources, Processes and Materials Engineering

Final exam, weekly graded worksheets, 3x labs with 2 of them requiring a lab report. If you can ask for a larger range of practice exams that would be more beneficial - I found the practice exams always have differing questions each year since there's a variety of content they could test you on. Helpful unit for those planning to do mining and materials related engineering. Going to the workshops are helpful to ensure you can get full marks for the worksheets. Lab reports are graded specifically so be careful with formatting - including how you reference.

Lab Report depended heavily on your group, make sure you have a good group (quite hard to do for a first year unit). Content was ok, try to attend the tutorial / workshop in person with the lecturer, as they walked through the questions step by step which was a lot easier than figuring out the answers yourself. Overall there was a lot of content to go through.

As is the case with all group-project-related units, your experience in this one depends on who you have to work with. Work was done in groups of three, and involved report writing on experimental data obtained through fortnightly 3 hour labs. My group was pretty onto it for the most part, so we didn't do terribly. The content itself isn't too difficult, I just found it mundane and a bit numbing. But everyone will have that experience with at least one unit eventually, so my testament won't speak for everyone.
