About this Unit

This unit introduces important concepts related to energy, including the definition of energy and its different forms, units of energy, energy conversion and efficiency, magnitudes of energy and energy density; current patterns and trends in energy consumption; key sources of available energy; introduction of methods for the generation of energy including fossil fuels, geothermal energy, biomass and biofuels, solar energy, wind energy, ocean energy, hydropower, nuclear energy, natural hydrogen, salinity gradient potential; assessment of relative advantages and drawbacks of the energy sources available; impacts of different energy sources on society, environment, economy and articulate sensitivity towards the First Nations on energy policy and program.
