About this Unit

This unit covers four important topics in analysis of geotechnical engineering. The first topic is related to site investigation, including principles, planning, field and laboratory studies. The second topic is shear strength of soils and laboratory determination of shear strength parameters and failure criteria. The third and fourth topics cover two aspects related to the geotechnical engineering design of shallow foundations, including bearing capacity (3rd topic) and soil compressibility (4th topic).
