About this Unit

This unit provides an introduction to contractual procedures as well as laying out the fundamentals of contract law and standard construction contracts. General conditions of contract for civil engineering and construction works (particularly AS21241 AS4000) are examined, highlighting variation and claims procedures in construction projects, alongside an exploration of environmental legislation and indigenous/heritage-aware applications, to build-in professional responsibility and negligence. Recognition that standard-methods of mensuration and specifying civil engineering components must compliment quality management systems (namely IS09000 and ISO9001 and associated requirements) for civil engineering organisations, in conjunction with the tools and techniques of continuous improvement, alongside EPEP finalisation if/as necessary.
