About this Unit

This unit covers some aspects of applied geotechnical engineering. The first part is stability of slopes and embankments. The second part is determination of lateral earth pressure. The third part is design of earth retaining structures, including flexible and ridged retaining walls, mechanically stabilised walls and braced excavations. The fourth part covers ground improvement techniques.
