About this Unit

This unit allows students to integrate prior learning with clinical reasoning frameworks using holistic, person-centred, inter and intra-professional management. Clinical case examples will be drawn from a range of lifespan, stages of recovery, levels of disability, cultural backgrounds, and diverse urban and regional/remote community settings. This will include gerontology, gender/pelvic health, and dizziness case examples. The unit will focus on developing inclusive shared decision-making skills to empower individuals with person-centred, evidence-informed knowledge and self-management skills to restore their function and optimise their health. Students will develop skills in reflective practice, collaboration, and working in an interprofessional team, to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Students will be developing the safety awareness required for a first-contact practitioner and will consider the challenges of managing an individual in geographical isolation using digital technology. The unit encompasses three Masterclasses taught by expert clinicians. The unit has a clinical focus culminating in a simulated clinical placement to consolidate learning.
