About this Unit

This unit develops communication, assessment, and treatment skills when managing more challenging cardiopulmonary problems in patients with additional comorbidities, complex care needs, or who are severely ill. Subjective and objective information gathering, analysis and prioritisation of key problems and safety concerns, and goal-setting with more complex patients are developed. Using the ICF framework, an interprofessional team approach, and person-centered communication, decision-making using evidence-informed management strategies is developed. Management strategies include the use of exercise prescription, application of technological devices, rehabilitation principles, and ongoing self-management. Challenging discharge issues are considered.
