About this Unit

This unit develops professional clinical competencies across a range of healthcare settings using interprofessional team case-based learning. This includes developing empathetic, person-centred communication with diverse clients (including those from a gerontology context), based on theories of behavioural psychology, health beliefs and models of behaviour change. The ICF framework and biopsychosocial models will be applied in a physiotherapy clinical reasoning process. Skills including information gathering, collaborative person-centred goal-setting, methods for measuring outcomes and standard documentation strategies will be developed. Students will have the opportunity to engage in providing interventions in a clinical setting, guided by a health professional.
