About this Unit

This unit introduces the fundamental heat transfer concepts and their applied relevance to thermal devices and systems in mechanical engineering. Based on energy conservation principles, the unit will enable the student to acquire analytical and modelling skills for characterising thermal systems behaviour and developing solutions to evaluate heat transfer rates in thermal processes. The unit will thus facilitate and impart thermal design capabilities in students in devices such as insulation systems, fins, and heat exchangers.
