About this Unit

This unit introduces a range of numerical methods widely employed for thermo-fluids engineering, such as the Finite Difference Method and Finite Volume Method. From the fundamental algebraic concepts to applied case studies, the unit will enable students to develop an understanding of the challenges of numerical techniques and to acquire analytical and modelling skills to generate relevant numerical solutions. Through hands-on activities, students will gain engineering capabilities to assess modelling strategies, design effective computational simulations and characterise common situations encountered in the fields of fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
