About this Unit

This unit deals with the principles, rules and standards that govern the creation and interpretation of engineering drawings. Students learn and apply the concept of orthographic projection to describe three dimensional objects and concepts two dimensionally. Through the study of drawing standards, conventions and abbreviations, students develop their capacity to produce and interpret multi-view drawings that include auxiliary and sectional views. Students learn and use computer-aided drafting to produce detail and assembly drawings. Students will also be taught how to create 3D models of parts and assemblies. The 3D modelling will include 3D sectional views, extracting orthogonal views, animation and CAD/CAM integration.
