About this Unit

Nutrition Professional Practice is a capstone unit to prepare final year students to enter the workforce. This unit provides students with fieldwork opportunities through practicum placement or industry and community engagement opportunities in work-based environments. During this fieldwork students will apply nutrition science knowledge and skills to improve food supply and/or human health and wellbeing, in addition to other competencies such as professionalism, teamwork and communication. The unit will focus on cultural competency development including Indigenous Australian culture and/or developing countries. Students will be able to work in a team with an experienced educator in nutrition to gain experience for employment. A major component will be the completion of work-based tasks including a project which will enable students to assess their competency development and achievements.
