About this Unit

This capstone unit will consolidate midwifery capabilities though clinical placement to the level of initial entry level midwife. Students will be required to demonstrate clinical skills and theoretical understanding and manage the care of women over the continuum of midwifery care, under the supervision of an experienced midwife. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the care of women from multicultural backgrounds and those with complex problems and the importance of Clinical Governance, quality improvement and the safety of women and babies. The Midwife Standards for Practice (2018) are used to demonstrate that the midwifery student is able to practice collaboratively and interprofessionally as a beginning midwife.
