About this Unit

This unit centres on women’s reproductive health issues and is focused on the impacts of social determinants of health on women’s well-being and health outcomes. Students explore the impact of infertility and sub-fertility and the options of care available. Women preparing for a pregnancy and midwifery management of early pregnancy are considered. Common pathologies, such as endometriosis, PCOS and cancers are investigated. The final postnatal 6 week examination of mother and baby midwife is appraised. Midwifery practice is consolidated with student continuation of CCE women and clinical placement so that all course and ANMAC requirements are met.
