About this Unit

This unit explores typical development of the nervous system’s structure and function. Somatosensory, autonomic and peripheral nervous systems. The unit covers motor systems and their role in controlling posture and coordinated movement. Students consider the role and integration of reflexes in relation to observation of typical motor development; identifying the role and integration of reflexes and reactions in relation to typical development. There is focus on understanding the development of cognition, perception, visual motor integration and language, developmental progressions and childhood occupations.
