About this Unit

This unit provides an introduction to core concepts within pharmaceutical chemistry. Students will be introduced to various laboratory techniques used for drug formulation analysis and learn about a range of physio-chemical properties of drugs which influence their pharmaceutical formulation, pharmacology and clinical use. This unit is divided into two learning modules. Module 1: Analysis of drug formulations via titrimetric, spectrophotometric and chromatographic methods. Module 2: Key functional groups in drugs, drug ionisation, drug solubility, drug stereochemistry, drug stability.
