About this Unit

The unit critically examines explanations for domestic and family violence and sexualised abuse. This unit explores how gender, age, cultural heritage, class, sexuality and (dis)ability mediate the lived experiences of violence, abuse and coercion, its impacts and the social responses. Students will explore current practice and policy responses and apply key approaches to working with perpetrators and survivors of violence, abuse and coercion including response-based practice, First Nations practice frameworks and trauma-violence informed practice.
