About this Unit

Human health and the health of the planet are interconnected. In this unit, students will be introduced to key concepts and frameworks for the analysis of global public and planetary health in the context of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals. Students will learn about solutions for the political, economic, social, and environmental determinants of healthy human populations and the natural systems on which they depend. Critical issues for sustainability will be explored on a global scale including collective action problems, power, wealth inequality, poverty, nutrition, water and sanitation, urbanisation, climate change, human consumption and production, human rights and gender equity.
