About this Unit

This unit aims at providing students with a general overview of the fundamental aspects of drilling engineering including rotary drilling rig systems, drillstring design, introduction to drilling fluid and cementing, hydraulics calculations including flow in pipes and annuli and drilling bits. The lab sessions are designed to familiarise students with the basics measurement of drilling fluid and cement properties such as rheology and density.
