About this Unit

Students will be introduced to Indigenous science, history, culture, knowledge and practices, and the value of integrating different knowledge systems to address global challenges. This unit focuses on developing the capacity of students to research, evaluate and communicate scientific and cultural information and arguments using written, visual and oral presentation techniques, while demonstrating inter-cultural awareness, scientific standards and academic integrity. In tandem, related ethical issues within STEM are explored, and particularly, the historic use of scientific ideas to justify social and political actions. The nature of science and scientific behaviours, the role and relevance of science and other knowledge systems in society, and methods of scientific inquiry are introduced to foster students' professional identities as scientists in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields in the 21st century.

The most boring unit I have ever taken. 0 value. All writing/essay based with mandatory class attendance and participation. They also make you write a reflection about how amazing the unit was. 10/10 would not take again.
