About this Unit

In this unit, students will build on the fundamental system theory covered in the pre-requisite unit, covering methods of improving system efficiency and practical aspects of refrigeration plant design. Students will learn about all aspects of theoretical refrigeration system design, including system types, load calculations, component selection, piping systems and refrigerants, with a view to minimising energy consumption and environmental footprint. In addition, practical system considerations outlining operating and maintenance requirements not directly affecting theoretical performance, will be integrated into the overall system design and analysis.
