What is MCEN4009 about?

This unit provides an introduction to acoustics and the practice of engineering noise control. There is an increasing need for engineers to improve the management of noise as we become more aware of the impact of noise in our environment. The awareness of this impact is also reflected in the regulatory requirements, which are becoming progressively more stringent. Hence, minimizing the impact of noise on our global acoustic soundscape is becoming increasingly important in a more populated world. This unit is intended for future engineers involved in the design of equipment, processes and infrastructure so as to provide a solid understanding of the practice of engineering noise management. Practical approaches to engineering noise management are included, considering noise management at the source, along the transmission path and at the receiver.
