About this Unit

This is an advanced level unit in Korean that takes an interactive and task-based approach to extend students' ability to demonstrate lower-advanced level written and oral composition skills. This unit is primarily taught in the Korean language to maximise students’ opportunities to practice lower-advanced level communication skills. This unit utilises authentic Korean texts ranging from news articles to popular culture texts, and introduces students to basic translation strategies for working with previously unseen texts. Students will achieve lower-advanced level conversation and writing skills through engaging in interactive class discussions and practising real-life communicative situations such as workplace interactions and job interviews. On successful completion of Korean 5 and 6, students will reach a level of competency equivalent to the National Institute of Korean Language’s Standard Curriculum for Korean Language upper 3/lower Level 4 on the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) scale of proficiency.
