About this Unit

An introduction to news writing and reporting for publication, whereby students develop news gathering, writing and research skills and an awareness of different styles and genres within print and online journalism. Students learn how to generate ideas, undertake research, conduct interviews, take news photographs and write in news style to strict deadlines. The highly practical nature of the unit provides students the opportunity to experience work integrated learning as reporters for Curtin Journalism’s online publication, Western Independent.
