About this Unit

This unit will focus on preparing students for their pharmacy careers by exploring in-depth the evidence that underpins all facets of medicine use. Learning activities will advance students’ theoretical knowledge of research methodology in medicines development, evaluation and use, and the translation of evidence into practice to address contemporary medicine-related problems. Students will apply skills in searching for evidence, critical evaluation of the literature, data analysis and interpretation and synthesis of information to inform patient-centred clinical decision-making. Applying an evidence-informed approach in situations where quality evidence or consensus are lacking, such as the use of complementary and alternative medicines, will also be addressed. Students will demonstrate effective written and oral communication with academic, clinical and lay audiences and practise working collaboratively in a group setting.
