About this Unit

The designer's use and application of computer modelling are extended in this unit for the purposes of digital production and manufacture. Parametric Solid modelling software CAD is further used and applied to create form, interface, and instructions for digital fabrication. The required application of technical communication to Australian and international standards is established. Low-fidelity physical modelling techniques studied include object printing, laser engraving and profile shaping. The design potential of different digital fabrication methods is studied by examining iconic designs, human sensory experience, research and creative experimentation.
