About this Unit

In this unit, students integrate biomedical knowledge with patient-centred and culturally safe care to address cardiovascular and respiratory conditions commonly managed by paramedics. Emphasis is placed on discussing the aetiology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations of conditions commonly managed by paramedics, interpreting diagnostic strategies, and understanding pharmacotherapeutics and quality use of medicines. Students will also develop skills in evaluating and applying primary evidence and clinical standards to inform management strategies that are evidence-based, person-centred, and culturally safe.
