What is GEOP2006 about?

This unit provides an introduction to geophysics, which is the main technique used to investigate the physical nature of the ground directly beneath the Earth's surface and consequently is a valuable tool for the non-invasive exploration of the Earth's sub-surface. This unit provides students with basic knowledge about the theory and application of the magnetic, gravity, seismic, electrical, electromagnetic, radiometric and borehole geophysical methods for exploration. Students will undertake and be assessed on appropriate laboratory and practical activities to acquire geophysical data relevant geophysical equipment; and apply geophysical processing, analysis and interpretation techniques using relevant software.
