What is ENST2007 about?

Landscapes, soils and surface environments shape the ecosystems that we depend on, playing a critical role in sustaining biodiversity, regulating climate, and supporting human life. Via class and field activities, this unit will equip students with an understanding of landscape processes, focusing on soil formation, hydrology, ecosystem functions, and their spatial variation. Students will explore how soil, water, and vegetation interact in shaping landscapes and regulating key processes such as carbon storage and nutrient cycling. Climate change and its impact on landscape resilience and environmental systems will also be addressed, alongside techniques for monitoring change, and the importance of integrating country-appropriate cultural approaches for sustainable land management.
