About this Unit

This unit has four main aims: introduce the soil - the “living skin” of the planet that supports all plant and animal life; understands the physical and chemical components of aquatic systems; understand the interactions between climate, soil and aquatic systems; and consider the challenges of managing these resources sustainably for both natural and productive ecosystems. These themes will be developed through lectures, interactive discussions, preparation of information sheets and a field report, hands on laboratory sessions.
