About this Unit

This unit explains the foundation of generation, transmission and distribution networks. The unit covers the principal operation of various types of generations including thermal, hydraulic, nuclear, natural gas and renewable energy sources. The application of FACTS and storage devices in power systems along with system stability and transmission line compensation are covered. The unit also covers the main steps of designing an overhead transmission line with supporting structure and insulation strings. Corona, travelling waves and fault location in overhead lines are also covered.
