About this Unit

This unit will equip students in the analysis of processes using advanced knowledge in thermodynamics and reaction engineering. The concepts of chemical and physical exergies will be used to perform exergy efficiency calculations. Multi-reaction equilibria will be applied to reactor design. Thermodynamics cycles will be analysed in relation to power generation, with a particular focus on nuclear power sources. Students will be introduced to unsteady-state reactor design and analysis, non-ideal reactors, and catalytic and non-catalytic gas-liquid reaction, non-catalytic gas-solid reaction and three-phase reaction.
