About this Unit

In this unit, students will critically examine historical and contemporary interactions between Indigenous peoples and the Australian legal system. In this context, consideration will be given to concepts of justice, culture, race and colonialism. Content includes Stolen Generations, criminal justice, racial discrimination, constitutional recognition, human rights, land rights, Indigeneity, as well as Indigenous rights under International Law. Additionally, this unit includes cultural immersion activities to promote an understanding of Indigenous ‘ways of being, knowing and doing’.
