About this Unit

This unit examines key principles and approaches to acting and directing for screen focusing on the relationship between director, actors, script and camera. Designed to give students a practical understanding of the techniques and tools required to act and direct across screen-based works and environments, this unit is structured around a series of task-based workshops that have two aims. Firstly, to equip student directors with the skills needed to work with actors and elicit effective screen performances. Secondly, to introduce student actors to the practices and protocols of working on set in order to maximise their creativity. The unit will culminate in a filmed scene directed and performed by students.
