About this Unit

An introduction to the skills and concepts required to implement effective editing and other post-production techniques including: digital visual effects, colour grading, audio mixing and sound design, and advanced editing techniques. These are essential components of many contemporary media productions, both for small screen and web-media productions, as well as documentary and dramatic video works. This unit concentrates on enhancing the production value of screen productions, addressing post-production and digital effects at the planning and scripting phase. The unit covers planning and post-production skills involved in generating emotional and aesthetic effect, audio recording and manipulation to generate immersion, as well as introduces essential compositing skills such as advanced “blue-screen” chroma key work, motion tracking, object replacement, as well as the integration of graphics and stock footage to simulate advanced practical effects such as fire, smoke and explosions.
