About this Unit

This unit is designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of health care systems through the application of systems theory. This theory views the health care system as a transformation process of inputs to outputs situated within an environment. Major areas addressed in the unit include financing, service provision, government role and responsibility as well as primary health care and vulnerable groups in the system. These areas are considered within the Australian health care system, and in comparison with other systems. The unit aims to be reflective and thought provoking, and focuses on promoting lifelong learning in the areas of health care provision, policy and management.
