About this Unit

This unit introduces students to communication skills for: establishing a professional relationship with patients; and patient counselling for a range of dosage forms. Students are introduced to the primary care (history/examination/diagnosis/management/monitoring) of wounds, minor oral health conditions, foot ailments and eye disorders, contact lens care and ear disorders. Students are provided with an overview of the pharmaceutical regulatory framework for the purpose of understanding the legal and ethical responsibilities related to pharmacy practice. The unit further explores principles of medication safety, and contemporary roles and responsibilities of pharmacists.
