About this Unit

Digital and social media offer many opportunities for people to create and share media content and information, engage in social interaction, and build communities and networks. Social media platforms now play a major role in bringing people together - whether to connect with others with shared experiences or interests, maintain social relationships, advance political causes, or for commercial and self-branding purposes. In this unit, you will investigate the opportunities and possibilities, as well as harms and social problems, that arise in relation to social media communities and networks. You will develop knowledge and skills to become more thoughtful and effective in navigating such. This knowledge is key for digital content creation, policy development work, and online community and network building.
