About this Unit

In this unit students will be introduced to the concepts of ‘value chain’ and ‘life of mine’ and will learn about main mining methods currently used in the industry and how they evolved over time. They will also gain an understanding of how new approaches to the collection and use of data are transforming mining across the value chain. Students will be introduced to the use of advanced sensor data analytics to inform decision-making in the mining context. There will also be opportunities to learn about state-of-the-art developments in digital mining systems through field visits and engagement with industry experts.
