About this Unit

This unit provides an introduction to the core skills in epidemiology and statistical concepts, their use and relevance in health research. Topics covered include: quantitative and qualitative research methods, study design, characteristics of a good research question, definition and selection of study population and participants, reliability and validity of data, statistical methods and the use of statistical software. The emphasis is on practical enabling students to conduct independent public health research.
