About this Unit

This unit is focused on developing the awareness of the Engineering Profession for students, covering professional behaviour and image. Professional institutions, engineering ethics and qualifications are introduced and after graduation activities such as recruitment and career progression are practised. Communications skills are developed, with emphasis on negotiation and presentation techniques as well as Indigenous Perspectives. Occupational health and safety including legislation is covered. The unit also covers an introduction to Law including the Australian Legal System, Intellectual Property and Employment laws. There is a focus on leadership, technological change, and marketing with a view to preparation for future careers. Work Experience requirements including reflections are covered. Group presentations are an integral part of the syllabus.
