About this Unit

Technology is increasingly impacting the work of lawyers and judges, amongst other professional industries. This unit introduces students to the interaction between law and technology. Topic coverage in the unit will vary from year-to-year, as will the specific technologies that students will have the opportunity to work with. Possible topics include, for example, artificial intelligence, eCommerce and blockchain, cybercrime, information governance and cybersecurity, human rights and ethics, and technology in legal practice. Students will have the opportunity to engage with one or more forms of legal technology in a hands-on environment and to think critically and reflect upon the way in which technology is likely to impact upon their personal and professional lives.
