About this Unit

This unit focuses on the development, sources and regulation of fair trading and consumer protection law in Australia, including its application to small business, at both State and Federal levels. Topics include consumer credit, misleading or deceptive conduct, statutory unconscionability provisions, unfair contractual terms in consumer contracts, consumer guarantees, and product liability and safety regulation. This unit develops students' capacities to communicate cogently and critically in a consumer law context.
