About this Unit

This unit covers both written and spoken Japanese at an introductory level that builds on prior knowledge gained in Beginning Japanese. A communication-oriented approach is used to help students develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing Standard Japanese so that they will be able to interact with speakers of Japanese in simple day-to-day situations. A wider range of topics on Japanese society and culture will also be introduced through mini-lectures, audio-visual presentations and real-time classroom-based or online tutorials.
