About this Unit

This unit examines how human physiology adapts and responds to extreme environmental conditions. It looks at the effects of heat, cold, high altitude, high pressure, and gravity on physiology. Physiological responses such as acclimatisation and adaptation as well as human variability are studied. Factors affecting the ability to perform work under extreme conditions and tolerance limits for humans are examined.
