About this Unit

Students will analyse processes for promoting health using a settings based approach. Students will explore the social and political contexts that influence health and the need for comprehensive responses in public health interventions. The unit has a major focus on the State as a setting, and the legislative process. Students will also critically assess corporate influences on health, conduct stakeholder analyses and examine the role of health promotion in influencing public policy. This unit involves both a theoretical and practical understanding of contemporary political issues and their impact on health.
