About this Unit

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a major challenge for global health (e.g. cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes). The unit provides an examination of the rationale for a public health approach to the prevention of NCDs. Epidemiology, determinants, global trends, costs, politics, partnerships and interventions will be explored. Contemporary health promotion frameworks and strategies for examining NCDs will be presented. Priority-populations with specific needs and specific settings for interventions will be examined.
