About this Unit

Advertising Design 1 is an introductory unit that prepares students for study within creative advertising, by developing conceptual techniques essential to the advertising industry. Students will research and explore a number of different creative thinking and ideation strategies, then apply these to solve advertising briefs across a broad range of media. Students will examine and conduct critical analyses of existing advertising campaigns through looking at branding, campaigning, images, art direction and copywriting, and how the different elements contribute to the communication of the idea of the advertisement of campaign as a whole. Throughout the unit students will begin to develop an understanding of production, art direction, copy writing, and industry practice.
