About this Unit

This unit introduces the doctor/patient relationship in the clinical setting. It develops a structured approach to effective communication and eliciting a patient’s history. It also introduces some aspects of physical examination, particularly observation, inspection and palpation. It applies the basic science underpinning the structure and function of body systems to clinical scenarios. It expands upon and develops further understandings related to aged care and healthy ageing, encountered during the Foundations of Medicine unit.
